IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo Triathlon will be held in Colombo (Based on Galle Face) on 24th February 2019.
The event will take place in the heart of Sri Lanka’s capital city, beginning at the renowned Galle Face Green park with a one-loop 1.9-km swim through the warm and clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The athletes will then progress to a well-paved, flat and fast three-loop 90-km bike course that will travel through Colombo’s City Centre and past the Old Parliament Building and the Port of Colombo, a historical harbour that stood as the center of ancient trading routes. The athletes will then run 21.1-km along the coastline with the unique opportunity to run on the historic Harbour Breakwater enjoying picturesque views of the Indian Ocean before returning back to Galle Face Green park.
February will be an ideal time of year to host the race with warm tropical weather conditions reaching 80 °F (27 °C). Athletes from all around the world will be greeted by hospitable locals cheering them along the race course.
The 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo will be an age-group only race offering 30 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. On top of the individual category, IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo will offer a relay team option, providing an opportunity for first timers to join the event.

The swim will begin with a rolling start from the beach in front of Galle Face Green. Athletes will swim a 1.9km anti-clockwise, triangular course. It is expected to be a non-wetsuit swim, with race day water conditions averaging a warm 27 ̊C.

Bike: 90.1 km
The flat and fast 3 loop, 90km bike course will turn left out of transition at Galle Face Green, and onto Galle Road heading North towards the Port of Colombo – one of the most historic trading harbours in the world. After riding along the harbour breakwater athletes will turn left at Chaitya Road for a loop around Fort, Financial Centre of Colombo that has some historical Colonial buildings before heading south, towards Marine Drive. Cyclists will enjoy views of the Indian Ocean as they head towards the Dehiwela Canal Bridge where athletes will turnaround and return to Galle Face Green to complete 1 of 3 laps.

Run: 21.1 km
2 loop, 21.1km course heading North along the picturesque Indian Ocean. The run course continues out onto the harbour breakwater before a U-turn and returning South towards the historic Galle Face Hotel. The run course will then continue towards Kollupitya junction midst cheering spectators before a U-turn and return to Galle Face Green. Once athletes pass the transition area heading North, 1 lap has been completed. Runners will then complete the course again before heading towards the Finish Line at Galle Face Green..
